ABOUT
Textiles Designer & Maker
Hi I'm Alice from THE CURIOUS DESIGN STUDIo. I am a textiles designer and maker based in Oxfordshire.

Originally I trained in textiles design, went on to be a children's fashion designer and had six years in industry, where I learnt so much from some truly amazing people.
​
In my heart I always thought I would probably follow a career in teaching and in 2009 I qualified as a Design and Technology teacher for secondary and sixth form education. I love being in the classroom helping young people find their creativity, build on confidence and enable them to bring ideas to life.
​
After having my two children I decided to take three years away from teaching and worked as a childminder for the flexibility around my family.
​
Although I loved every part of being a Mum and being so fortunate to spend the time with my children, I was also missing a little of my previous life in design. Which is why in May 2021 my Sister and I decided to embark on a creative venture, making eco conscious craft kits. I loved every minute of this challenge and got the bug whole heartedly.
​
In April 2023 I created TCDS focusing on my Textile roots which I love so dearly. I feel as though my creative spark is back and I am so excited to be sharing it with you.
​
I design and make one off textile art pieces, hand embroidered hoop art and decorative prints. I would say my style is quite sketchy and illustrative, however, I do also love working on abstract pieces which evolve organically.
​
I love being able to share my love of textiles, so I design and make creative kits for you to try at home, as well as running workshops in Oxfordshire. I look forward to seeing you there!
